These sites are tools rather than accounts. There is no sign-up, no profile and no newsletter, and nothing here asks a visitor for a name, an email address or a payment method.

What is stored on your device

pc_theme, a cookie

Holds one word, light or dark, so the site does not flash the wrong theme on your next visit. It is set on .plaincandle.dev for one year, with SameSite=Lax and Secure. It carries no identifier and is not read by anyone else. Clearing cookies removes it and the site works without it.

pc.session.v1, in session storage

A five minute cache of the menu entries the top bar shows, so every page load does not re-request the same list. It is cleared when you close the tab.

pc.pavers.v1, in local storage

Only set on pavers.plaincandle.dev. Holds the paver designs you save there: each design's name, the area size, the paver sizes and how many of each you have, their colours and where each one sits, plus the pattern segment you last made or copied. It stays in that browser until you clear it and is never sent anywhere. To move a design to another device, copy its plan code and paste it there yourself.

What is loaded from other companies

Cloudflare

Serves these sites and measures page views through Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not fingerprint visitors. Cloudflare also processes the request logs any web host receives, including your IP address, in order to deliver the page.

Google AdSense

Serves the advertisements on this site and sets its own cookies to do so, which may be used to personalise what you are shown. Those cookies are Google's rather than ours and we cannot read them. What is not done

• No account is created and no password is stored, because there is nothing to log in to.
• Nothing you type into a calculator, a slider or a plan is sent anywhere. The paver designs described above are the only thing kept, and they are kept in your own browser.
• No data is sold.

Refusing it

The theme cookie and the session cache can be removed in your browser's site settings, and blocking them costs you a remembered theme and nothing else. Saved paver designs are removed the same way; clearing them deletes every design, so copy a design's plan code first if you want to keep it. Blocking third party scripts stops the analytics beacon and the advertisements without breaking any page.

Children

These sites are not directed at children under 13 and do not knowingly collect information from them.

Who runs this

PlainCandle is a personal project, operated from the United States. It is not a company and has no staff.

Write to privacy@plaincandle.dev about anything on this page, including a request to know what is held about you or to have it deleted. Given what is described above, the answer is usually that nothing is held: there is no account, no profile and no record of a visit that is tied to you.
